For the past couple of weeks I’ve been crushed at work. As a teacher, September, October, and November (every month now that I think about it) are pretty rough. The whole family has to get used to having parents who aren’t around all the time. Both the boss and I are teachers so we spend most summer days with My Precious and My Main Man.
With getting back to school it’s been a little difficult to get back into the routine. One of the children is up because they want to snuggle. Someone wants another story. Another wants their back rubbed. And both always need to use the bathroom even though we stopped at the restroom before putting on pull-ups. Without fail this can be heard from both ends of the house, “Dada. Mama. I’m hungry. I want cheese.”
No thank you’s. No please. Just commands coming from the little bosses in the making. A few cute smiles and lots of kisses (very, very sparingly do we get kisses now that I think about it), but those kids know we are all fraying at the edges. In the end, it is worth it. Seeing them curled up and sleeping makes it worth it in the long run.
